Description

A deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia. When booking a deep tissue massage, it is important to communicate with your therapist about any pain or discomfort you are experiencing. This will help them to target specific areas and ensure that you are getting the most out of your session. Deep tissue massages are best booked when you have time to relax afterwards, as they can be quite intense. Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Sports massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). It's best to book a deep tissue massage when you have specific pain or muscle tension. This type of massage is not recommended for pregnant women or people who are recovering from surgery.
